I am designing active wear and athleisure garments for Fall/Winter 2018. This collection is specially marketed and made for women’s wear. Inspiration for this collection comes from Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma Active wear collaboration and their unique way of creating garments combining utilitarian purpose of active wear and streetwear. The garments would be comprised of nothing but the best fabrics: bamboo, sweat-wicking, thermal, and waterproof fibers. I choose these fibers as a result of the high price point. This allows for better designed pieces for the customer to wear on an everyday basis. All of the garments created are also machine washable for the convenience of my target customer. The color story and the small details like the lace and print design allow for more custom pieces to be made. The garments also lean toward oversized for the streetwear trend. Applique placement is also key for the collection, for example, making the colored stripes far apart from one another for visual appeal. I am designing for the middle-class to upper middle-class woman, who earns from $40,000 to $100,000 annually. The age of the target customer is early 20’s to mid 30’s. The pieces in the collection would run into a high price point, garments being from $70 - $175. They like to work out and be able to run errands whilst wearing their active wear to save time they would have wasted changing at the gym.
