Senior Collection

Some women stood atop all others in positions of power, and with either a crown atop their heads or sword in hand, reshaped history. The collection is a modern take on the empowerment of women throughout time. using historical costume references along with knowledge of trends and modern fashion, the collection creates women more elegant, amiable, and influential than their ancestors. There is no force equal to a woman determined to rise.

I want to go into costume design which is why i decided to make my senior thesis on female empowerment throughout history and time in different regions of the world. more specificly, greece, egypt, japan, and england. i wanted my costumes to be inspired by historical elements but also modern influences. i was inspired by women who stood strong and had a great sense of pride in themselves such as lady gaga, princess diana, edith head, collen atwood, and my mother. in my collection you will see applique techniques, machine and hand embriodery, and custom printed fabric patterns. i'm also minoring in industrial design so you will also see plastics, sculpting, and laser cutting techniques in my garments as well.
